Can you plant a japnise maple in direct sun?
It is not advised. They are understory trees - meant to grow under the protection of a larger tree. There might be some varieties by now that are bred for stronger light conditions, but unless the label on the plant says if can be grown in full sun, you are likley to stress it, making it look bad or making it more susceptable to insects and disease.
