How sun can i give a aloe vera plant?

Aloe vera is quite tolerant of many conditions. I have several pots full of aloe. One pot is sitting on my deck and is in full shade. It is a deep, forest green color, and is a beautiful plant. Another pot of aloe is sitting in full sun, and is a much lighter green and has a more pinkish tint to it. It's also a beautiful plant.

If it's been in shade for a long time, gradually increase the amount of sunlight on it per day. It'll do fine. You'll have to water it more, though, when you keep it in the direct sun.

I have my Aloe vera plants outside on my patio during summer time, and they will happily take full sun, and grow prolifically.

A key thing for these, and most other plants, is to gradually acclimatise them to outdoors living, a few hours a day at a time, over a couple of weeks. This helps prevent them from getting shocked, due to the sudden change in environment that can overwhelm them.

Go easy on watering, as you do for them to be growing indoors. Indoors plants can still take plenty of direct sunlight too, though you may find that your plants can really develop when they're outdoors. If it's just purchased, I'd give it an increasing amount of direct sunshine indoors, as it may have been in the shade during transit to your home.

Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob
