Can some plants grow without sun or water?

I have a science fair comeing up and i dont even know what to do i still have to do reserch on if plants can grow without sun or water in other words HELP!

Can some plants grow without sun or water?
Yeah plants can grow without sun. those plants are called are non-photosynthetic plants. as they do not have photosynthetic pigments. They are also termed as chemosynthetic plants as they prepare their food by chemicals and not by sun light. As far as water is concrned then no plant on earth gorws without it. Water is essential for every livig animal. Its basic requirement for solutes and solvents to get transported from one cell to another. without it plants will DIe. try growing plants without water, they will shrink and eventually die.
Reply:No life form on earth can survive without water. But as was pointed out fungi, which in some of the newer of the classification systems currently in use world-wide has actually been moved into its own kingdom, can survive without sunlight. Generally a fungi needs a cellulose product, such as wood, and moisture. Things like temperature and air pressure and so forth ofcourse but that's a given for any lifeform in general not fungi specifically. Also a venus flytrap is an example of a plant that does not need sunlight.
Reply:mushrooms are considered a "plant" and don't need light, but they do need moisture.

Good luck!
Reply:mushrooms are usually grown in dark places but they need lots of humidity to grow......I don't think that there is anything that can grow without water, cause even cactus need water, a little bit but they still need water. you should try Google, good luck.
Reply:With the right technology yes.
Reply:Many plants grow without sunlight. Fungi [mushrooms] do better in the dark, but need moisture in the form of humidity. And lots of plants in the depths of the oceans where no sunlight can penetrate to the ocean floor. Very few if any [that I can think of] can grow without water.

You can spot the difference in the plants, as all green plants need sunlight to perform photosynthesis, which is the act of converting plant sugars to energy. The green component in the plant is called chlorophyll. It is many years since I did science [which I loved] in school so I hope my information is correct and of help to you in your coming project. Good Luck!
Reply:I'm going to try to grow some mushrooms with Gatorade, I'll let you know how it works.
Reply:Do a web search of:

Orchids,

Troglodytes,

life in caves,

air fern,

plant dormancy.
