science question. only helpful responses please. thank you in advance for your help, it is greatly appreciated...
Why is a plant growing in the shade less likely to wilt than one growing in the sun????
since the one in the shade is protected from direct sunlight
hence less rate of transpiration than the other in the sunlight
which experiences a high rate of water loss through transpiration
Reply:because it's cooler in the shade and less likely to cause moisture to be lost to evaporation as in direct sunlight
Reply:wait, first you have to consider there are plants that work better in the shade and others in the sun and others requiere 50/50 shade and sunlight, otherwise they may even die.
ps. I meant to say, those plans are suited for shade or sun or 50/50. We often have people comming back with death plants because they did not read the labels on where to plant them.
So I would say, a plant that was not likely to wilt in the shade, is because is a "full sun" plant. Maybe did not die, but it did not wilt.
