Anybody know of flowering vines that I can plant on my west facing balcony, when the afternoon sun hits hard?

Jasmines are nice. Star Jasmine (white) will bloom in the early summer and smells wonderful. Winter jasmine (yellow) blooms in the winter and really doesn't have aroma. They both tolerate the sun and are evergreen. So if you plant one of each you will have an evergreen plant that will bloom twice a year.

Morning glories, Moon flowers, all sun loving varieties.
Reply:How about Morning Glories?
Reply:Any of the Hybrid Clematis will grow in LARGE pots. Trachelospermum jasminoides is an evergreen, sweetly scented evergreen twiner, that hates frost or cold exposures, and loves sun. Both will require support, good soil, and regular watering.
Reply:Crimson Parasols. A tropical vine and a very prolific flowering vine. I have two hanging baskets of them. They also attract humming birds.
Reply:You could try honeysuckle, moonflower, clementis, sweet peas, or morning glories.

Have fun!
Reply:wisteria, vinca vines, clematis, ivy, honey suckle, all are good!
Reply:"clematis" will thrive in hot areas as long as u keep the roots cool with some mulch...if u use it don't let it touch the base of the stems.. about an inch away will work well! they are on "sale" at walmart right now! plus they are very beautiful when in bloom!
Reply:I'd say honey suckle...I have a vine growing on the west side next to my balcony, and I love it. It loves sun, and smells so good. Also attracts butterflies, and birds.

Another suggestion...Jasmine! It has the most intoxicatingly gorgeous scent!!
